Kittens found abandoned in trash can in St. Marys

The Stratford Police Service is asking for the public’s help in finding a person who dumped kittens in a trash can at the St. Marys Cemetery.

They were found by a woman out walking her dog Sunday.  She heard meowing from the garbage can and when she lifted the lid, found five small kittens inside a bag that had been tied up.

The kittens were treated at the St. Marys Veterinary Clinic but only two have survived.

The kittens are believed to be between two to three days old and police say they were likely disposed of about 12 hours before they were discovered.

The surviving kittens are now in the care of the Town of St. Marys.

The Stratford Police Service has opened an animal cruelty investigation.

The kittens were found in the trash can at the south end of the cemetery just north of Section B.

If you have any information call the Stratford Police Service at 519-271-4141 or Crime Stoppers at 1800-222-TIPS.
