Breaking: New four-year-contract for the Stratford Police Service

Uniform and civilian members of the Stratford Police Service have a new four-year contract.

A press release was sent out Monday afternoon stating that the Stratford Police Services Board and the Stratford Police Association have reached a new four-year collective bargaining agreement.

The agreement is effective from January 1st, 2019 to  December 31st, 2022 and includes an average annual wage increase for uniform members of just under 2%.

The release says that additional wage increases for civilian members bring them in line with the comparative median wage of others doing similar work in Ontario police services.

The agreement also includes enhancements to health-related benefits and is the first since the SPS took on policing responsibilities for St. Marys and Perth South.

According to the release, the previous collective bargaining agreement expired December 31, 2018, and the Stratford Police Services Board and Stratford Police Association have been actively negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement since February 2019
