Stratford City Council is getting a pay raise.
At their regular meeting Monday night, council voted in support of a revised base pay, which officials say accounts for the elimination of the one-third tax exemption by the federal government.
Part of the plan approved by council also includes giving council members the option between becoming a part of a combined health and dental plan offered by the city or taking $4-thousand annually instead of the benefits.
The benefits or payment won’t start until January 1st, 2020.
Mayor Dan Mathieson, who doesn’t receive per-diem pay, will see his base salary go from $66,869 to $81,212 next year with the increase.
