New Transition Bed Program to Strengthen Mental Health Services in Huron and Perth

A new program in Perth and Huron Counties is aiming to help those experiencing a mental health or addictions crisis.

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance held an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new Mental Health and Addictions Transitions Bed Program on Wednesday.

HPHA officials say that Huron and Perth residents experiencing a mental health and/or addictions crisis will now have access to an additional resource when the six transition beds in Clinton officially open in late November. Funding is coming from the Ministry of Health for the program which is the first type of transition facility located in Huron and Perth Counties.

The home, property of the Clinton Public Hospital, has been fully renovated and includes a common area, kitchen and simple dormitory-style bedrooms for clients.
