Keep fire safety in mind as we fall back an hour

It’s almost time to fall back an hour.

Daylight savings time comes to an end at 2 o’clock Sunday morning which means we need to set our clocks back an hour before we go to bed that night.

The Stratford Fire Department is also reminding you that it’s a good time to install new batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to help ensure your home is safe.

Stratford Fire Prevention Officer Rod MacDonald says there things to keep in mind when it comes to detectors in your home.

“A working smoke alarm is required on every level of your home and outside of all sleeping areas and for added protection, it is recommended also to install smoke alarms inside all bedrooms.”

MacDonald adds it’s also a good time to go over your home escape plan to make sure you’re ready in case of a fire.
