Ontario investing just over $295-thousand to help meet the demand for skilled workers in Stratford area

Ontario is putting in some funding to help meet the demand for skilled workers in our area.

Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece says the province is investing up to just over $295-thousand for three Pre-Apprenticeship Training Programs at the Technical Training Group in Stratford.

Thanks to the funding, officials say 36 participants will be able to train through the Pre-Apprenticeship Program which helps people gain trade-specific knowledge, basic job skills, and valuable work experience.

Ontario will increase spending on the province’s Pre-Apprenticeship Training program by $2.5 million this year.

The programs are publicly-funded, last up to one year, and often combine classroom training with an 8 to 12-week work placement.
