Perth-Wellington MP wants parliament recalled to end CN strike

The MP for Perth-Wellington wants parliament recalled to deal with the CN Rail strike.

In a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, John Nater says the strike that began on Tuesday is having a devastating impact on farmers who rely on propane to dry their crops, heat their barns and process their commodities.

Nater says that Trudeau needs to immediately recall parliament, not set to reconvene until December 5th, and table emergency legislation to get CN back on the job.

He says waiting until next month to take action isn’t an option.

“By that point, the situation will be so dire that farmers will be left with very few options so anything we can do to get a resolution earlier the better.”

On Thursday, the President of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture called on Ottawa to help put an end to the strike.
