UPDATE: Person killed in collision near Brussels identified

UPDATE: 1:08 P.M.

Police have identified the person killed in the four-vehicle crash near Brussels as 62-year-old Jamie Hill from Sauble Beach.

The driver of the pickup, 21-year-old Liam Fletcher from Sauble Beach remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say their preliminary investigation has determined a compact car was eastbound on Jamestown Road when it entered into the controlled intersection at Brussels Line (Huron County Road #12) and collided with a tractor-trailer that was travelling southbound on Brussels Line.

The tractor-trailer then collided with the bridge and a northbound pickup truck.

A northbound sport-utility vehicle then collided with the rear of the pickup truck.

One person is dead following a four-vehicle crash near Brussels.

First responders were called out around 8 o’clock Thursday night to the collision at the Jamestown Bridge on Brussels Line.

Police say a passenger in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver from the same vehicle was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Three others involved in the crash have since been released from the hospital with minor injuries.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement Team are helping with the investigation.
