Laurel Jean Smith age 73 passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 16, 2014 with her husband at her side. She was born in Stratford daughter of the late Lawrence Doell and the former Alma Mielke. Laurel was employed at Samsonite and the Queens Inn until 1984 when she started L & M Catering which her daughter Lorrianne still operates. She is a member of Memorial Baptist Church. Beloved wife of Wendell Maurice Smith whom she married June 28, 1958 in Wartburg. Loving mother of Lorrianne Rowe (Sonny), Steve Smith (Lynda), and Kirk Smith (Klaudia). Dear grandmother of Patricia Treanor (Steve), Deanna Robotham, Vicki Ara (Rick), Kody Smith (Alisha), Kyle Smith (Mellanie) and Chris Treanor. Cherished great grandmother of Matthew, Cassidy, Noah Weston and Reagan.  Sister of Marlene Whaling (Wayne), Kenneth Doell (Marilyn) and Gary Doell also mom’s special friend Jackie. Also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law and their families. Besides her parents she was predeceased by son Bradley (1982), a great granddaughter Faith (2010), a brother in law Raymond Whaling (2003). Friends and relatives may call at the W. G.
