Donations needed for Kiwanis Christmas Basket Fund

You’re being called on to help those less fortunate in the community.

As Christmas draws closer, the Kiwanis Club of Stratford is continuing to collect monetary donations for its Christmas Basket Fund with the need for baskets having increased since last year.

Officials say they are trying to put together 645 baskets this year, compared to 609 last year, plus purchase gift cards that can be used by those who are homeless.

Christmas Basket Chair Dave Evans says they are currently around $10-thousand short of what they need to make this year’s program a success.

“The other thing I’d like to mention to people, if they could drive on Friday, if they turn up around 9 or 9:15 at the Local Community Food Centre, we’ll load them up with some baskets and they could make s0mebodies Christmas a whole lot better.”

You can drop off cash or cheque donations to our station at 376 Romeo Street South until the end of the week.
