Provincial budget consultation held in Stratford

Taking care of seniors, healthcare and affordable housing.

Those were some of the issues brought up during a provincial budget consultation Thursday morning at the Stratford Legion that was hosted by Stan Cho, the Parliamentary Assistant to the Ontario Minister of Finance.

A handful of people, including Stratford Deputy Mayor Martin Ritsma, took part in the session with Cho saying that he will use the input gathered from Stratford, as well as other locations visited, to come up with recommendations he’ll pass on to Ontario Finance Minister Rod Phillips.

Cho says he was able to learn more about Stratford by hosting the session.

“I was surprised to hear that Stratford has only a two per cent unemployment rate and really we heard some of the challenges and how important it is to narrow that skills gap and to get qualified workers in this city.”

It’s expected that the budget will be presented by the end of March.
