Ontario agricultural organizations calling for end to rail stoppage

A letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says a crisis is emerging in rural Ontario as a result of interrupted rail service.

It’s from a number of different agricultural organizations including the Ontario Federation of Agriculture and Egg Farmers of Ontario.

They say they understand Indigenous Canadians have fundamental issues that must be addressed in order to achieve full reconciliation but, the agri-food sector is the most significant driver of the Ontario economy and the stoppage in the rail service is farm families and farm businesses at risk.

The letter calls for an immediate solution to the current disruption in rail service by Indigenous protesters supporting the Wet’suwet’en fight against the Coastal GasLink.
