Bee population hit hard last winter

A new report says 60 percent of the bees in Ontario were wiped out by our most recent winter.

That’s three times the death rate of bee populations in other provinces.

The Ontario Beekeepers’ Association wants the government to take action.

It wants the Liberals to speed up a plan to restrict the use of plant seeds treated with neonicotinoids.

Many scientists and environmentalists say it’s killing the bees and other insects.
