Major investment for transit in Stratford

It’s a major investment in transit in Stratford.

Dignitaries including Stratford Mayor Dan Mathieson, Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece and Minister of Infrastructure and Communities Catherine McKenna gathered at the Stratford Transit Garage to announce approximately $4-million in funding for ten public infrastructure projects.

The money, $1-million from the city, $1.4-million from the province and $1.6-million from Ottawa, will go to five new conventional buses and two new mobility buses, 8 new accessible shelters, and new bus routes on Sundays that will use “on-demand” software.

McKenna says transit is vital to those who live in Stratford.

“You have loads of tourists which is great but then you also have loads of people and businesses here in the off-season so very important.”

Federally, the funding is coming from the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Plan.
