Listowel man charged with assaulting police officer

Perth County OPP says an officer wasn’t hurt after being dragged by a vehicle during an interaction with a Listowel man.
Police say the officer was assisting with a broken-down vehicle on Perth Line 55 in Perth East on Monday when another vehicle came to the scene with the driver refusing to leave.
The driver then threatened the officer and attempted to drive away, dragging the officer a short distance.
The officer was able to gain control of the driver until other OPP members arrived to assist in taking the individual into custody.
The sixty-year-old man faces charges including uttering threats and assaulting a peace officer.
He has a future court appearance scheduled in Stratford.
