Police issue warning over COVID-19 related scams and frauds

You’re being warned to watch out for scams and frauds related to COVID-19.
Huron County OPP says cybercriminals are actively trying to capitalize on public concerns, uncertainties and misinformation around the outbreak to facilitate fraud and cybercrime.

Police say there are several different types of scams targeting victims including communications through call, text or email camouflaged to appear as they are coming from legitimate organizations such as police departments asking recipients to share sensitive information.
They say you should be very wary of unsolicited calls, texts and emails, questionable offers and deceptive advertisements.
If it looks even remotely suspicious do not open it.
