OPP to crackdown on drunken boating

Don’t drink and boat!

That’s the message from the OPP in the run up to the long weekend.

Police say alcohol was a factor in nearly half of all boating fatalities so far this season.

Boaters are allowed to have open alcohol only on boats with permanent sleeping, cooking and washroom facilities and only when those boats are docked or at anchor.

The OPP will be cracking down on boating safety throughout the Civic Holiday.
