Stratford looking at possibility of merging police and fire chief jobs

Stratford city staff is investigating the possibility of merging the fire and police chief jobs.

The motion for a report on the matter was made at Monday night’s council meeting.

Councillor George Brown asked for the report, saying some places in the U.S. have already done it.

The motivation behind having one person serve as both chiefs is saving money.

Council passed the motion to have staff take a look at the idea.
