The MP for Perth-Wellington calls the emergency session of parliament to pass the wage subsidy legislation a “unique experience”.
John Nater tells MyStratfordNow.com it’s important to show Canadians that parliament is functioning during the pandemic and he adds the session was a collegial experience with politicians on all sides working together.
The 75 per cent wage subsidy is designed to help keep businesses from laying off their employees during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nater adds there’s no perfect solution to responding to a pandemic and adds his Conservative party needs to support the government as much as they can.
Reacting to the news of a resident at Greenwood Court in Stratford dying from COVID-19, Nater says his thoughts are with their family.
He adds the government needs to make sure all resources, including personal protective equipment, are made available to long-term care facilities.
Nater says he’s proud of the way Perth-Wellington has responded to the virus.
