St.Marys expands Community Wellness Program

St.Marys is expanding its Community Wellness Program to help deal with COVID-19.
Officials say the program was launched late last month and initially focused on connecting those in need with pre-existing community resources.
They say the approach has been successful, with over 80 people currently registered, staff have since discovered some gaps in the service.
One issue they identified was grocery delivery with some residents without a credit card or an internet connection struggling to access it.
Staff at the Community Wellness Program will now place grocery orders on clients’ behalf, arrange for delivery and offer alternative payment methods.
Staff are now using Facebook to share live and pre-recorded videos of recreation and leisure programs and are also exploring telephone programming to connect those without access to the internet.
