Stratford Police says they’re saddened by the loss of one of the city’s beloved swans.
They say they were called around 4:15 Tuesday afternoon by a 77-year-old man from the city who said he had accidentally struck a swan on Lakeside Drive.
He said it happened when the swan stepped off the curb in front of his vehicle.
Police and a city employee came to the scene but the swan passed away as a result of the injuries caused and its body was removed from the area.
The driver involved, as well as witnesses in the area were spoken to and it was determined that no offence had been committed and no charges will be laid.
