Wellington County OPP searching for driver they say impersonated officer

Police are searching for a driver they say he impersonated an officer in Wellington County.
Police say a driver was stopped by a man in the area last week who asked for proof they were an essential worker.
The man got back in his vehicle and left the scene after he was presented the information, according to police.
Investigators say he was wearing a black long-sleeve shirt and a ballistic vest with the word police in yellow-orange letters across the front.
He’s described as white, between 30 and 40 years old, and had short dark hair with facial scruff and was driving a black four-door sedan.
The vehicle had a blue strobe light on the dash and a small aerial antenna on the trunk.
Police say they aren’t stopping drivers to see if they are essential workers and you can always ask to see an officer’s identification if you are pulled over by a plain clothes officer.
