Stratford Police says they’ve seen a rise in property crimes since an emergency order was put in place in Ontario over COVID-19.
Between March 17th and Wednesday, SPS says they received 31 reports of thefts from motor vehicles, which is nearly double that of the 17 reports received during the same time period last year.
Break and Enters are also up slightly to 16 reports, eight residential and eight commercial, compared to that of 14 reports in 2019, with 10 commercial and 4 residential.
While the numbers are up in Stratford, police say St.Marys and Perth South have remained relatively quiet.
SPS are reminding you to secure your property as a majority of the crimes have been to property that has been unlocked.
