Canadian pork producers are calling for help from Ottawa.

The latest blow to hog farmers comes as Russian bans Canadian pork.

The move is retaliation for Canadian sanctions against Vladimir Putin’s regime for the ongoing tension in Ukraine.

The Saskatchewan Manufacturing Council wants Ottawa to create an emergency fund to deal with the short term fallout.

Federal Industry minister James Moore says the sanctions will hurt Russia more than it will hurt Canada.
