Mitchell woman charged following two-vehicle collision in Stratford

Stratford Police says a 26-year-old Mitchell woman faces charges following a collision in the city.

SPS says they’ve charged the woman with dangerous driving and fleeing from police after the two-vehicle collision Thursday afternoon at Downie Street and Lorne Avenue East.

Police say an officer tried to pull over a Chevrolet Equinox on Downie Street around six o’clock because the vehicle didn’t have a rear license plate and its exhaust pipe was dragging on the ground.

The vehicle took off southbound on Downie Street, according to police, with the officer not pursuing.

Eventually the collision took place with the Equinox hitting a Kia Sportage at the intersection.

A four-year-old girl in the Sportage was taken to the hospital to get stitches for a cut on her face and two other people were taken to hospital as a precaution.

They have all been released and the accused driver was set to have a bail hearing on Friday.
