Starting this weekend you’ll have to make alternate plans if your travels take you down Lakeside Drive.
Starting Friday, Lakeside Drive from Waterloo Street to Queen Street will be temporarily closed to through traffic on weekends.
The closures will be in effect from 3 o’clock Friday afternoon until 7:30 Monday morning, until the end of August.
Barricades will be installed on Lakeside Drive at the Waterloo and Queen Street intersections, as well as at the intersections where Morenz Dr., North St. and Front St. meet Lakeside Drive.
The Allman Arena parking lot will be open for use and accessible from North Street, and the Stratford Festival’s Queen Street parking lot will be open and accessible from Queen Street.
The city says the aim of the weekend closures is to encourage active transportation, and to allow for people to physically distance while being active outside.
