Stratford Police seize firearms, suspected methamphetamine

A Stratford man and woman face several firearms charges.

A traffic stop early Monday led to a search of a Huron Street home.  The driver of the vehicle was arrested for suspended driving and police say had suspected methamphetamine in his possession.  A search of the vehicle turned up a magazine for a .223 Ruger firearm and a modified concrete nail gun.

At the home, officers found the .223 Ruger firearm, a 12-gauge Stoeger shotgun, and a .22 calibre Ruger firearm.

The 35-year old driver of the vehicle faces several firearms charges including Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, and Careless Use of Firearm; as well as Possession of a Controlled Substance.

A 45-year old woman has also been charged with firearms offences.

The man was held in custody for a bail hearing and the woman has a court date in September.
