Beach water testing underway at municipally owned and operated beaches in the area

Huron Perth Public Health says it has begun annual beach water testing at municipally owned and operated beaches across Huron and Perth counties.

However, they say the services will be modified due to HPPH’s COVID-19 response, and instead of testing beach water twice a week, they will sample one day per week on Wednesdays.

If high E. coli counts require beach water to be tested again, resampling will be done on Fridays and Saturdays where required.

Even though HPPH is testing beach water at local beaches, they say some may be closed to the public as part of COVID-19 restrictions.

Results of E. coli counts, as well as any no-swim advisories, will be posted on the HPPH website and information will also be shared on the Huron Perth Public Health Facebook page, as well as on Twitter.
