Huron Perth MOH: We need to be “very, very respectful” of a second wave of COVID-19

The Medical Officer of Health for Huron Perth says we need to be “very, very respectful” of a second wave of COVID-19.

During a teleconference Thursday afternoon, Dr. Miriam Klassen said officials in Canada have already learned a lot about the virus and continue to watch how it’s impacting different parts of the world.

She said that if people continue to abide by the restrictions in place then we may see cases drop very low for a while but we could still see continued clusters of cases pop up in different regions and we will need to take quick action to contain them.

Dr. Klassen said we are still in the first stage of the virus and it hasn’t gone away completely but it has become under control from where it was in the beginning and we can continue to reopen if we follow the health restrictions in place.

Asked about temporary foreign workers on area farms, Dr.Klassen said there haven’t been any virus outbreaks on farms in Huron Perth but there are opportunities for improvement when it comes to protecting the workers.
