Driver charged after tractor knocks down hydro lines near Listowel

A 60-year-old Owen Sound resident has been charged after police say a tractor knocked down hydro lines.

Shortly after 11 o’clock Monday morning, police, firefighters, and Hydro One were called to Perth Road 164/Highway 23, between Listowel and Atwood, after a tractor implement had caught on hydro lines as it traveled down the road.

Police say the tractor was located and stopped on Mitchell Road South, Listowel, with wires still dragging behind the tractor.

When police went to the site of the downed wires and transformer, a fire had started in the grass.

Police say no one was hurt in the incident and the driver has been charged with Overheight vehicle.
