London woman charged with impaired driving

A 27-year-old woman from London faces an impaired driving charge after she was stopped in Stratford.

Shortly before 2 o’clock Tuesday morning, Stratford Police say an officer on patrol in the area of Erie Street and Lorne Avenue observed a black Ford Fusion traveling south on Erie at a very high rate of speed.

The officer was not able to catch up to the vehicle to stop it until close to the Wildwood Conservation area, due to the vehicle’s high rate of speed.

Upon speaking with the driver police say the officer observed signs of alcohol impairment, and the driver was arrested.

She was transported to Stratford Police Headquarters where she provided samples of breath.

SPS says the results of the tests showed the driver had over the legal limit of alcohol to operate a motor vehicle and was subsequently charged with Operation While Impaired-Alcohol and Operation while Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration.
