UPDATE: Wilmot Township man charged with first-degree murder

UPDATE: 4:54 P.M. Wednesday

A 33-year-old Wilmot Township man faces a first-degree murder charge.

Waterloo Regional Police say they were called out to the area of Erbs Road, near the town of St. Agatha, around 12:45 Wednesday morning after receiving a report of a 35-year-old Wilmot Township male deceased in a farm field.

They say he suffered significant head trauma and the suspect had fled the scene before police arrived.

Officers learned the suspect was traveling on foot and he was arrested shortly after 9 o’clock in Kitchener.

Police say the victim and suspect knew each other.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested after a homicide in Wilmot Township.

Police tweeted around 2:30 Wednesday morning that they were investigating after a man was found dead near Erb’s Road and Notre Dame Drive.

Another tweet sent by police said they were treating the incident as a homicide and they were searching for a man who was seen fleeing the area on foot.

It’s believed the suspect was known to the victim.

Police then tweeted around 9:30 Wednesday morning that they had arrested a man in connection to the investigation.

They haven’t released the victim’s or suspect’s names.
