Lambton Shores Mayor asking rule breakers to stay away from area beaches

With the Civic Holiday long weekend almost here, many of us may be thinking of heading to the beach.

Lambton Shores Mayor Bill Weber says those who do plan on heading to beaches in his municipality, including Grand Bend Beach, can expect to see an increased number of bylaw officers as well as a full of compliment of OPP officers who will be on hand to make sure the rules, including those over COVID-19, are being followed.

While he couldn’t specify exactly how many, Weber says they have already surpassed the number of tickets given out for offences this summer compared to last year.

Weber says he has a clear message for those who don’t want to keep safety front of mind.

“We would like people that don’t want to follow the rules to find someplace else to go, stay home in your backyard, enjoy a cold beer in your backyard, you might have a better weekend than coming.”

Weber says there have been many people coming to the beach who are following the rules and he wants that to continue.
