Three new active COVID-19 cases in Huron Perth

There are three new active cases of COVID-19 in Huron Perth including two in area healthcare workers.

Huron Perth Medical Officer of Health Dr. Miriam Klassen gave an update Thursday afternoon and said one of the healthcare workers is employed at Knollcrest Lodge in Perth East.

Dr.Klassen says the worker at the home tested as asymptomatic for the virus, and with no other cases at the facility, the lodge has been placed into a precautionary mode while an investigation is done.

Medical professionals have learned that it’s not always necessary to declare an outbreak at a home if proper steps are taken, according to Dr. Klassen.

The other healthcare worker is in Huron County, with one more case in Perth County.

There have now been 68 cases of the virus overall in the region with 64 resolved.

The death toll remains at 5.

Another 42 tests were completed over the last day bringing the total to 11,465.
