More research is needed but so far it doesn’t appear a tornado touched down near Mitchell.
That’s according to Greg Kopp, lead researcher with the Northern Tornadoes Project out of Western University, who says they are still examining all of the available evidence and discussing observations with eyewitnesses after Monday’s storm.
A Tornado Warning was issued by Environment Canada for Stratford and area for a short time Monday afternoon.
Kopp says once they complete their review, they will issue their assessment.
However, at this point, he says there appears to be limited damage so it’s not likely to meet the requirements for a tornado occurrence.
