Police say a 64-year-old contractor had to be freed after they became trapped in a deep trench in Egmondville.
First responders were called out to a vacant lot at the corner of Kippen Road and Stapleton Avenue around 10:20 Thursday morning.
They say the contractor was working at the lot when an excavated area collapsed around the victim trapping the victim in the trench.
The victim was quickly freed from the pile of dirt and was rushed to hospital by air ambulance.
He remains in hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the Ministry of Labour has been notified to assist with this investigation.
