Perth-Wellington MP says O’Toole the right person to lead the federal Conservatives

The MP for Perth-Wellington says the new leader of federal Conservative party is no stranger to our area.

Erin O’Toole was chosen by the Conservatives as their new leader Sunday night and John Nater says he’s been to the Perth-Wellington area 4 or 5 times officially over the past 4 and a half years and more times than that unofficially.

Nater says the Conservatives need to be a moderate, modern party that is ready to govern in the 21st century and he says O’Toole is the right leader because he’ll present a dynamic platform that addresses the concerns of Canadians across the country.

Nater says Perth-Wellington will be well represented with O’Toole.

“He knows the area well, he knows the concerns whether it’s agricultural whether it’s small business, he knows this area well and I will certainly ensure that he keeps it well known in his mind.”

As for a potential fall election, Nater says most Canadians would prefer not too see one but in the unpredictable nature of a minority government anything is possible.
