Two active COVID-19 cases in Perth South

There’s good news when it comes to COVID-19 in Huron Perth.

Updated data released by Huron Perth Public Health on Thursday afternoon shows one of the three active cases of the virus in the region reported on Wednesday has now recovered.

That leaves two active cases in the area.

Medical Officer of Health for Huron Perth, Dr.Miriam Klassen, says the cases are all within the same household in Perth South.

She says she believes the residents of the home spread the virus among themselves but it’s not known where the cases originated from.

Klassen says contact tracing is taking place and an update will be provided next week if it’s discovered where the cases came from.

HPPH reports there have been 123 confirmed cases of the virus in the area with 116 of those recovered.

The death toll remains at 5.
