Students returning to school across Huron Perth

Whether it be in person or virtually, students across Huron Perth are heading back to the classroom.
Like many boards across Ontario, both the Avon Maitland District School Board and the Huron Perth Catholic District School Boards are taking staggered approaches to bringing students back during the COVID-19 pandemic.
That began last week with early orientation for students with special needs and younger students.
It continues this week with students being brought back in groups determined by the first letter of their last name with the HPCDSB will bring high school students back by grade.
Enhanced safety protocols have been put in place at area schools due to COVID-19.
Those learning from home also start this week.
The Avon Maitland District School Board plan is as follows:

Monday, September 14: Only students with last names beginning with A-G will attend
Tuesday, September 15: Only students with last names beginning with H-N will attend
Wednesday, September 16: Only students with last names beginning with O-Z will attend
Thursday, September 17: All students begin daily attendance.
Students enrolled in remote (online) learning will begin Thursday, September 17.

Kindergarten students will begin their staggered start on September 14 as well. Details include:
Monday, September 14: JK interviews
Tuesday, September 15: SK students attend
Wednesday, September 16: SK and half of the JK students attend
Thursday, September 17: All students begin daily attendance

The Huron Perth Catholic District School Board plan is as follows:

Monday, September 14 

  • Elementary students with last names beginning A – G ONLY will attend 
  • Secondary students in Grade 9 ONLY will attend 
  • Remote learners begin synchronous instruction 

Tuesday, September 15 

  • Elementary students with last names beginning H – N ONLY will attend 
  • Secondary students in Grade 10 ONLY will attend 

Wednesday, September 16 

  • Elementary students with last names beginning O – Z ONLYwill attend 
  • Secondary students in Grade 11, 12 and fifth year ONLY will attend 

Thursday, September 17 

• All students return to school together
