Two men faces charges after an assault in Stratford.

Stratford Police say they were called out on Sunday to Pine Street and Railway Avenue about a report of an ongoing dispute.

Officers came to the scene and found two men involved, a 29-year-old and a 31-year-old.

They say the younger man had gone into the tent the older man was living in, believing items stolen from his shed earlier that day were inside the tent.

Police say the items were found and the younger man assaulted the older man, hitting him with the stolen items.

Police add the younger man took items belonging to him as well as other items that belonged to the older man.

The victim of the assault was able to flee and call for help, prompting police to be called by a witness in the area.

As a result, both males were arrested and transported to Stratford Police Headquarters.

The 29-year-old male has been charged with Robbery, while the 31- year-old male has been charged with Possession of Stolen Property.
