North Perth man charged with assaulting police

Perth County OPP say one person is facing multiple charges after assaulting police while in custody.

Just after 8:30 Tuesday morning, police say they were contacted after a person kicked and damaged a vehicle that was parked on Main Street East, in Listowel.

When police arrived moments later, the suspect was arrested near-by.

Police say the same suspect had been involved in a mischief incident at a home on Monday and was additionally arrested for that incident..

They say the accused was then transported to the Perth County OPP detachment, in Perth East, where they became combative, and assaulted two OPP officers.

One officer received minor injuries in the altercation, and the other was not injured and the suspect later caused mischief in the cell area at the OPP detachment, which resulted in an additional charge.

A 38-year-old North Perth man now faces several charges including two counts of assaultinmg police.
