Huron East resident faces charges in connection to two stolen vehicles

Police say a 28-year-old Huron East resident is facing a number of charges after a series of events involving two stolen vehicles and two collisions.

The first single-vehicle collision happened last Friday, just after 4:30 in the morning., on Perth Line 72, near Road 169 in North Perth.

Perth County OPP say a red GMC Sport Utility Vehicle lost control, rolled, and struck a hydro pole.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival, and it was determined that the vehicle had been stolen from a home in Brussels.

The suspect from the collision then attended a near-by business, where they stole tools and a Dodge Caravan, according to police.

The vehicle was recovered the stolen van in Brussels a short time later.

At 9:43 in the morning, police received a report of another single-vehicle collision, this time on Perth Road 180, on the border of Huron East.

Another hydro pole had been struck by a Dodge Nitro, causing wires to come down across the roadway.

Two people in the vehicle were transported to hospital with minor injuries, and the investigation revealed that the driver was the same suspect who had stolen the previous two vehicles.

The Huron East resident faces a number of charges.
