Police: Two people face drug related charges after driver found sleeping behind the wheel

Police say two people face charges after a driver was found to be impaired by drugs and asleep behind the wheel of a car.

Around 1 o’clock in the morning on September 5th, Perth County OPP says an officer observed a vehicle stopped in the eastbound lane on Main Street East, in Listowel.

They say the officer located the driver passed out behind the wheel with the engine running, and the vehicle in drive.

The officer woke the driver, and while speaking with him, noticed the driver was displaying signs of impairment through a drug.

Police say the officer also found cocaine and drug paraphernalia in plain view.

The driver was arrested and brought to the local OPP detachment for further examination where tests deemed the driver was impaired by a drug.

A 34-year-old Kitchener man faces charges while his passenger, a 38-year-old Kitchener woman, was also charged with possessing drugs.
