Huron Perth MOH: We have an opportunity to act now to try to mitigate COVID-19

The Medical Officer of Health for our area says we have an opportunity to act now and try to mitigate the high number of COVID-19 cases seen in Ontario.

Dr.Miriam Klassen told a media conference Monday afternoon that there is currently only one active COVID-19 case in Huron Perth.

It comes after she says all of the new active cases reported between September 6th and September 12th were connected to former cases with no new transmissions.

Dr.Klassen says that just because we are seeing a low number of cases right now doesn’t mean we can stop following COVID-19 restrictions.

She says the virus travels fast and it could come here “in the blink of an eye” and we need to think about every step of our actions.

Parents need to be vigilant before sending their children to school, Dr.Klassen added.

There have been 127 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Huron Perth with 121 recovered.

The death toll remains at five.
