Increased high-speed internet on the way for Oxford County

Broadband access is set to become more widely available in Oxford County.

Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology announced Thursday it has awarded $9.9 million in broadband upgrades to bring high-speed internet to 1,670 underserved areas in the county.

Among them are Tavistock and South-West Oxford.

Included in the investment is a partnership between SWIFT and the Governments of Ontario and Canada with $5.3 million going to seven fibre-to-the-home projects to help bring improved high-speed internet to 22 communities.

Quadro Communications is also partnering with SWIFT as part of the project.
