Huron Perth MOH: “We all must maintain our vigilance against COVID-19”

The Medical Officer of Health for Huron Perth says we all must maintain our vigilance against COVID-19.

Dr.Miriam Klassen told a media call Thursday afternoon that some of the cases of the virus that have been seen in our area have come in people coming back from hot spots including Ottawa and Toronto.

She says it’s important that we continue to follow COVID-19 guidelines to ensure the virus doesn’t spread out of control.

HPPH hasn’t been able to determine the source for half of the COVID-19 cases seen in the region on the past few weeks.

Dr.Klassen says there have been people coming from out of Huron Perth to be tested for the virus here and she says there are residents here who have gone elsewhere.

She adds there are no rules against that and that Canada has a universal healthcare system that is supposed to be portable.

Four active COVID-19 cases remain in Huron Perth with 140 cases in the region since the start of the pandemic and 131 recovered.

The death toll remains at 5.
