Stratford City Council votes to defer decision on proposed glass manufacturing facility

Stratford City Council has put the brakes on moving ahead with a decision on a proposed glass manufacturing facility.

At a special virtual meeting on Tuesday afternoon, council voted to defer the decision on the proposed Xinyi Canada Glass manufacturing facility until questions raised by a number of concerned residents are answered.

Over ten residents spoke out at a special meeting on Monday night with issues ranging from water use to how much traffic the facility would bring to city roads when fully operational.

Stratford Mayor Dan Mathieson says an update is expected to be presented at council’s meeting next Monday.

He adds no decision will be made at that time but information will be presented.
