It’s happened just as Premier Doug Ford promised. Ontario has moved several public health units up a level in their colour coded framework. In making the announcement Ford says the situation is “extremely serious and further action is needed.” As expected, Toronto and Peel Region will move to the highest level of Grey or Lockdown meaning many non-essential businesses to close to in-person shopping and restaurants will have to stop inside dining but can still offer takeout and delivery. Ten other public health units have been moved up a level ranging from yellow to red. The province is doubling its financial support for businesses affected by this move to $600-million and businesses in lockdown and the red tier can apply beginning today. The changes go into effect on Monday, November 23rd at 12:01 am.

- Eastern Ontario Health Unit;
- Grey Bruce Health Unit;
- Kingston, Frontenac, and Lennox & Addington Public Health;
- Peterborough Public Health; and
- Thunder Bay District Health Unit.
