Xinyi Canada Glass hosting second public information session

Stratford residents are getting another opportunity to hear directly from the company behind a proposed $400-million glass plant.

Xinyi Canada Glass is hosting an online public information session Thursday afternoon from 2 o’clock until 4 o’clock where they say they will respond to residents’ questions over the proposed plant including those on air quality and water usage.

The session comes after a meeting on Monday between representatives from Get Concerned Stratford, a group that opposes the plant, and Stratford Mayor Dan Mathieson.

The group says Mayor Mathieson has invited them to the council meeting on December 14th where they will respond to questions raised but not vote on the plant.

Chris Pidgeon is the President of GSP Group, the planning firm from Kitchener that’s consulting for Xinyi, and he says the company is making sure it has everything in place for the plant to move ahead.

“We are dealing with the experts in the province of Ontario that we must get those approvals or there is no glass plant that will be constructed.”

Pidgeon says Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks representatives will be on hand for the session to help answer questions.

Another online information session is being hosted by Xinyi on December 10th.
