It’s high recognition for the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance when it comes to their effort on organ and tissue donations.
The HPHA has been presented a Provincial Conversion Rate Award by the Trillium Gift of Life Network.
Trillium is Ontario’s organ and tissue donation and transplantation agency and the award was presented for HPHA’s efforts to integrate organ and tissue donation into quality end-of-life care in 2019/20.
Over 1,600 people are currently on the waitlist in Ontario for a lifesaving organ transplant, and every three days someone dies waiting.
HPHA Community Donor Registration Rates:
-St. Marys – exceeds the province with a registration rate of 56%, ranking 8 out of 170 communities.
-Stratford – exceeds the province with a registration rate of 52%, ranking 31 out of 170 communities.
-Southern Bruce & Huron Counties – exceeds the province with a registration rate of 45%, ranking 91 out of 170 communities.
-Perth County – exceeds the province with a registration rate of 44%, ranking 102 out of 170 communities.
